We have a lot of different ways you can be involved and support the library and our community!
We are nearly always looking for volunteers to help in our bookstore! Please complete a volunteer application form at the City's website and we'll reach out to you about talking with us as soon as it's approved.
If you'd like to volunteer at our quarterly book sales, contact Jan about sale needs.
Visit our DPIL web page to learn more about this wonderful program! We need volunteers to help with fundraising to support this program in Marion. Email DPIL@marionpubliclibrary.org to ask about possible ways to get involved.
We are always looking for volunteers with some expertise in grant writing to help us support the program. Email DPIL@marionpubliclibrary.org.
Would you like to visit local schools and preschool programs to promote our DPIL affiliate and encourage registrations? Ask Cheryl at DPIL@marionpubliclibrary.org.
If we do not need some of our donations for our bookstore or book sale, many will be boxed and sold to Half-Price Books.
We can use volunteers to haul donated books to Half-Price. This entails moving the boxes themselves, and then waiting at Half-Price while their staff evaluates and offers a price. The cash is returned to us at the library. If you'd appreciate an excuse to spend some time browsing at Half-Price, reach out to us at Friends@marionpubliclibrary.org.
If we do not need some of our donations for our bookstore or book sale, they are scanned and, if accepted, shipped to Better World Books, our charitable online bookselling partner.
We can often use volunteers to help scan donated books and books that have been withdrawn from the library, separate scanned books between Better World Book boxes and our sale boxes, and shift the boxes to the appropriate locations. Reach out to us at Friends@marionpubliclibrary.org.
