We have a lot of different ways you can be involved and support the library and our community!
We have a sale in the lobby of the old 6th Ave library on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month, and we sell books from a stall at the Marion Farmers Market at Taube Park on Saturday mornings.
We need volunteers to manage the sales from 10a.m. to 1p.m.
We need volunteers to stock and replenish book carts and to sort books.
We need volunteers to sit in the market stall; market hours are 8a.m. to 11a.m. through September. Set up begins at 7a.m. and wraps up by 11:15a.m.
Volunteers need to be willing to devote some time to loading vehicles with books, tables, our canopy, and other market supplies, and to return these things after the market.
We are always looking for volunteers with some expertise in grant writing to help us support the program.
Would you like to visit local schools and preschool programs to promote our DPIL affiliate and encourage registrations?
All donations are scanned and, if accepted, shipped to Better World Books.
We need volunteers to help scan donated books and books that have been withdrawn from the library, separate scanned books between Better World Book boxes and our sale boxes, and shift the boxes to the appropriate locations.
We need volunteers who are willing to transport boxes of Better World Books (and empty boxes) from the old 6th Avenue library building to the current library Annex for shipping, and to transport withdrawn library books from the Annex to the old library building.
